About Me

My name is Lindsey and I am a sewing addict!  I am of a generation whose grandmothers were always knitting and sewing and learnt a great deal about crafts from a very early age. As a result of this, I have always gained a lot of pleasure and relaxation from keeping my hands busy and creating.

Around 2005 I decided to start a small business, crafting from home and named it Alana J Design, after my youngest daughter, Alana.

Making V pillowcases in patterned fabrics is how it all started and many new designs are in the pipeline. I currently have a range of several V pillowcases in different, patterned fabrics (including fleece) and am constantly adding new designs to this range - this includes a new, Fairtrade and Organic Cotton V case - and I can also supply the V pillow pads in the correct size.

I sew at home in our Victorian cottage in Bedfordshire (UK) and mainly use vintage machines including a Singer and a Bernina. Over the years I have picked up a few traditional skills, including patchworking, quilting, applique work, hand embroidery, redwork embroidery, bag making, knitting and textile design; I have also learnt a great deal from the experts by attending sewing classes, at nearby venues and also online.

My hope is that you will find individual, unique pieces on my website, for your home and yourself or friends, that you can relate to and that make you smile.
